As a Building Maintenance Technician, you keep RK Industries' headquarters safe, reliable, and in good working order. You perform preventive and routine maintenance, complete handson repairs, and coordinate vendors when specialized support is needed. You'll work independently, manage your own task list, and play a key role in maintaining a safe workplace for everyone in the building.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance throughout the headquarters building.
  • Troubleshoot and repair doors, fixtures, furniture, mounted equipment, and other building components.
  • Complete handson tasks such as mounting televisions and performing minor carpentry, masonry, and grounds repairs.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, prioritize tasks, and track work orders through completion using maintenance/workorder software.
  • Inspect facilities regularly, identify issues, and complete adjustments or repairs.
  • Coordinate external vendors for specialized maintenance or repair work when needed.
  • Document completed work and outstanding facility needs clearly and accurately.
  • Work independently, exercise sound judgment, and recommend repairs or improvements.
  • Participate in company safety and environmental programs, stop work when unsafe conditions are present, and promptly notify a supervisor of hazards.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Timely completion of maintenance requests and preventive tasks.
  • Low repeat issues on repaired equipment or fixtures.
  • Accurate, complete documentation in the maintenance system.
  • Strong safety record with proactive identification and reporting of hazards.
  • Positive feedback from building occupants and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Approximately two years of experience using maintenance or workorder software, or similar tools to track work.
  • Handson experience with general building or facilities maintenance, handyman work, or similar roles.
  • Ability to perform repairs and safely use common hand and power tools (drills, hammers, wrenches, etc.).
  • Ability to identify maintenance issues, disassemble equipment or fixtures when appropriate, and replace defective parts.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of autonomy while communicating effectively with your manager and other stakeholders.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance and ownership of assigned work.

Preferred

  • Experience in building maintenance, facilities, handyman services, or securityfacilities environments.
  • Familiarity with basic building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and vendor coordination.
  • Work environment and physical demands
  • Work onsite at RK Industries' main headquarters; this is not a remote position.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, including in dusty, noisy, or potentially hazardous areas.
  • Work at heights, in tight or confined spaces, and in other challenging locations as needed.
  • Climb, balance, squat, kneel, crouch, bend, and reach on a regular basis.
  • Work in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely use common maintenance materials, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
