Job description

Director of Building Value
Full-Time
Building Value, an Easterseals Redwood social enterprise, is a leader in Cincinnati's building materials reuse community. We create a triple- bottom- line impact: People, Planet, Profit, by preparing people who are under-represented in the construction trades for living-wage careers. We provide high-quality deconstruction and salvage services that keep reusable materials out of landfills. Salvaged, reclaimed, and donated building materials are resold through the Building Value Retail Store, extending our community impact while supporting the missions of Building Value and Easterseals Redwood.
The Opportunity
Building Value is entering a bold new chapter, and we are seeking a Director who can help shape the vision, strategy, operations, and growth of this unique social enterprise. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who is energized by both mission and business performance-and who wants to make a visible difference in the Cincinnati region.
As Director, you will serve as a business leader, chief sales officer, and team builder. Your challenge will be to find a way to compete and win with a workforce that is less productive by design, given the agency's workforce development mission. You will work with partners across construction, business, government, education, philanthropy, and human services while leading a collaborative management team responsible for daily operations and workforce development outcomes. This position reports to the Vice President of Social Enterprise.
What You'll Do
  • Set direction, drive accountability, strengthen operational discipline and follow-through across Building Value's business lines, including Deconstruction/Demo, Hardscaping, and Retail.
  • Lead the management team to deliver strong business results while maximizing mission and workforce development impact.
  • Manage the overall profit and loss for Building Value, evaluating each business segment for profitability, sustainability, and growth potential.
  • Serve as the public face of Building Value with customers, partners, stakeholders, donors, community leaders, industry associations and networking groups to build visibility and support growth opportunities.
  • Lead business development efforts with Business Development Manager to identify prospects, cultivate relationships, convert opportunities into revenue, and ensure strong customer follow-through.
  • Develop and execute annual budgets, sales strategies, and marketing plans aligned with revenue goals, mission impact, and operational priorities.
  • Partner with the Building Value Construction Training team to advance mission effectiveness
  • Participate as a member of the Easterseals Redwood Directors and Leadership Team.
  • In partnership VP, lead Building Value Advisory Committee

What We're Looking For
  • Proven business leadership experience, including responsibility for P&L performance, budgeting, revenue growth, and operational execution; construction or related industry experience preferred.
  • Proven success leading an entrepreneurial business unit or social enterprise with multiple revenue streams while balancing business performance, mission impact, and long-term sustainability.
  • A leadership style grounded in accountability, collaboration, clear communication, and the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance mission, financial performance, and operational realities.
  • A hands-on, resourceful leader who brings grit, urgency, and follow-through to problem-solving and execution.
  • Comfortable working across varied settings, including job sites, offices, the retail store, and community environments.
