Job description

Design-Build Project Manager
Empire State Building | New York, NY
Shape Landmark Projects in the Heart of New York
An exceptional opportunity is available for a seasoned Design-Build Project Manager to lead complex, high-visibility building projects in one of the most iconic locations in the world, the Empire State Building.
This is more than project management. It's a chance to take full ownership of transformative projects, partnering with top-tier design-build contractors to deliver innovative, large-scale developments from concept through construction. You'll play a pivotal role at the intersection of design, engineering, and execution, driving quality, collaboration, and results.
The Opportunity
As the Design-Build Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of sophisticated building projects using the design-build model. You'll collaborate closely with contractor partners and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are executed seamlessly from early design through final construction.
This highly visible role offers the opportunity to influence major projects, mentor teams, and build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders across the region.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the full project lifecycle - From preliminary engineering through final design, construction documentation, and construction-phase services
  • Drive multidisciplinary coordination - Oversee architectural, structural, and MEP teams to ensure seamless integration and execution
  • Own project performance - Maintain accountability for scope, budget, schedule, and quality across multiple concurrent projects
  • Engage stakeholders - Act as the primary liaison with agencies, municipalities, utilities, and community stakeholders
  • Support construction delivery - Oversee shop drawing reviews, monitor schedules, and guide change management processes
  • Shape growth - Lead proposal efforts, support client development, and contribute to strategic pursuits
  • Mentor and lead - Develop junior staff, foster innovation, and build a high-performing, collaborative team culture
What You Bring
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture (Master's preferred)
  • Licensure: Active New York Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)
  • Experience:
    • 20+ years in design and project delivery
    • Strong background managing projects from concept through construction within the past 15 years
    • Proven success delivering large-scale projects ($50M+ in fees)
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, and BIM
    • Experience with 3D corridor modeling
    • Strong knowledge of regional design standards and coordination processes
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and build strong client relationships
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Iconic location - Work from the Empire State Building on projects that shape the region
  • High-impact work - Lead complex, large-scale projects with real community impact
  • Leadership visibility - Be a key decision-maker influencing project success and team growth
  • Career flexibility - Multiple pathways for advancement including technical leadership, operations, or client strategy
  • Collaborative culture - Join a team that values innovation, excellence, and partnership
  • Work-life balance - Flexible work arrangements and generous time-off offerings

If you're ready to lead from the front, drive meaningful projects, and elevate your career in one of the most dynamic markets in the country, this is the opportunity to explore. Please apply now, what are you waiting for?
