What is a Behavioral Technician Intern?

BTI stands for Behavioral Technician Intern, a role typically found in behavioral health or therapy settings. BTIs assist in implementing behavior intervention plans under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) or other licensed professionals. Their responsibilities often include working directly with clients (often children with autism or developmental disorders), collecting data on behaviors, and supporting the progress of therapy sessions. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in behavioral health before pursuing advanced certification or education.

Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, data integration tools, and certifications like PMP or ITIL is typically required.
