What You Can Expect
Trade Development
  • Build Connections: Develop rapport and personally call on targeted on-premise & off-premise accounts in San Diego and select accounts in Orange County.
  • Target & Engage: Maintain and actively work the targeted account list.
  • Sell with Passion: "Hand Sell" assigned a portfolio of brands to targeted gatekeepers (retailers, bar owners/managers, and bartenders).
  • Educate & Inspire: Conduct wait staff training and coordinate brand education seminars in target accounts to create advocacy for Brown-Forman brands.
  • Boost Visibility: Secure Brown-Forman priority brand visibility, menus, and features in targeted accounts.
  • Turn Data into Action: Analyze data, including depletion reports, and convert insights into actions.

Market Planning & Evaluation
  • Leadership: Lead development and oversee execution for Emerging Brand platforms in On and Off Premise and serve as the local "expert" for Brown-Forman Emerging Brands initiatives in the San Diego market.
  • Strategize: Develop market plans for target accounts in collaboration with the Emerging Brands Senior Regional Manager, Area Manager, and Field Marketing Managers.
  • Set & Track Goals: Work with the local Brown-Forman team to set goals and track distributor sales teams.
  • Performance: Monitor assigned Brown-Forman portfolio brand performance with the expectation of exceeding market segment trends. Review local market performance monthly and make recommendations on how to improve performance.
  • Collaborate: Participate in ongoing planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Manage Budgets: Manage budget responsibilities to drive financial success.

Training & Coaching
  • Coaching: Serve as a field coach for agency partners with Emerging Brand Responsibility.
  • Training & Coordination: Train distributor craft, off-premise, and on-premise teams on assigned Brown-Forman brands and their competitive set, and serve as Brown-Forman commercial team segment expert to coordinate training activities across the local Brown-Forman team.
  • Collaborate: Conduct formal work-withs in the market with distributor sales teams a minimum of 8 days per month, in addition to independent market time.
  • Continuous Improvement: Complete ride-with contact reports, work with distributor Division Manager, and copy Regional Sales Manager and Area Manager on continuous improvement.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the beverage alcohol industry with a proven track record of meeting key metrics through an entrepreneurial mindset and innovative problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders while fostering collaboration across channels, functions, and geographies to drive better results.
  • Ensures clear and consistent communication with relevant parties, prioritizing Brown-Forman's overall business objectives over individual territory or team goals, and fostering a culture of transparency within the team.
  • Strong coaching and sales training skills, with a consistent presence in the market to engage with key accounts and customers.
  • Proficient in commercial business operations software, including Microsoft Office, and other budgeting and planning tools.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to travel and work nights and weekends as required.
  • Valid state driver's license and capable of lifting up to 60 pounds.

Pay
The base pay salary will be $87,000 - $93,000 plus a 10% cost of labor allowance bringing the range of pay to $95,700 - $102,300 paid semi-monthly plus a 25% bonus. The 25% bonus will be calculated off the base pay and cost of labor allowance paid annually contingent on performance of the company and individual.
