Job description

Bartender is responsible to support the F&B Supervisors and Beverage Manager in the successful operation of casino service bars at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Position will be engaged in the sale of and efficient production of quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage products for consumption by guests in a trained, responsible, and professional manner, as well as other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 1 {one) year experience in the Beverage Service Industry as a Bartender or similar position is preferred. 

  • Possess the ability to work with Co-workers and Management in a casino environment, involving high volume fast paced production in a friendly and professional manner.

  • The position requires salesmanship, fast paced service and production, the ability to read, write, speak and understand English, distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols and be involved in daily professional communication with co-workers and guests. The position requires math skills and the ability to multi task, basic beverage knowledge inclusive of specifications {fluid measurements, size, shape, color, glassware, and garnish) product recognition {brand, label, bottle size and color, use, etc.) as defined by hiring management. 

  • The position requires money handling experience, and familiarity with digital touch screen cashiering systems is preferred. 

  • Must be able to demonstrate and ensure that daily work performed is conducted within HACCP guidelines. Required to comply with safe and hazard free work environment practices stipulated in Horseshoe Indianapolis, County/State/Federal Department of Health and OSHA policies, procedures and regulations. 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, and be certified in Serve Safe Alcohol Awareness, Indiana State approve Alcohol Training and hold an Indiana ATC {Alcohol & Tobacco Commission) License, as well as an IHRC {Indiana Horse Racing Commission) Occupational License. 

  • Position requires scheduling flexibility, may be required to work weekends, holidays, overnight, or overtime, based upon scheduling and business needs.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ensures that behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards. Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.

  • The Positions requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push or pull 150 to 250 lbs on a pushcart, and enter walk-ins of -10 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit with or without assistance. Handle heat from glass/ware washing machines. 
  • The position also requires normal or corrected vision range, with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols. 
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift walk frequently, bend and/or reach to a height of 6 feet with or without assistance {stand, sit, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp). 
  • Access to general gaming floor.
  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Horseshoe Indianapolis' Company-wide culture and demonstrating Excellent Service Standards at all times.

  • Safe efficient production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage products according to specified recipes, and specifications as well as quality and quantity control, par levels, product storage and rotation, station set up, preparation of ingredients, and clean up, etc.

  • Responsible, Legal alcohol service, including checking ID, measured pours, cutting off service of alcohol, etc.

  • Maintains standards of sanitation, bar and personal hygiene and cleanliness, as well as beverage service techniques and safety all with regard to the safe handling of beverage products for guest's consumption.

  • Ensure that bar and equipment are in good working order and that the work area is clean and hazard-free.
