Do you have a passion for sports? Do you enjoy working with people? The YMCA of Broome County has an opportunity for you.


Sports Officials & Facility Supervisors are responsible for officiating YMCA sports leagues, maintaining a safe playing environment, and supervising gym rental groups. This position plays an important role in providing quality recreational experiences while ensuring YMCA policies and safety procedures are followed.ย 


  • Officiate youth soccer, basketball, and adult volleyball games according to YMCA and league rules.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play during all games and events.
  • Make fair, consistent decisions while maintaining control of the game.
  • Supervise gym rental groups before, during, and after scheduled rentals.
  • Enforce YMCA policies and facility rules with professionalism and respect.
  • Address participant questions and resolve conflicts in a calm and courteous manner.
  • Inspect equipment and playing areas before activities and report safety concerns.
  • Complete accident and incident reports as needed.
  • Communicate with YMCA staff regarding facility needs, participant concerns, or emergencies.
  • Represent the YMCA's mission and core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Schedule:

Nights and weekends depending on the season


Salary:

$17.00 per hour

  • Knowledge of soccer, basketball, and volleyball rules
  • Previous officiating, coaching, or playing experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with youth, adults, coaches, and spectators
  • Strong judgment, professionalism, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and remain calm in fast-paced situations
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings and weekends
