This role is primarily conducted onsite as you deliver care directly in patients’ homes throughout the Charlottesville area. Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist at Bright Star Physical Therapy, you will:

  • Direct physical therapy treatment plans focusing on preventing disabilities, relieving pain, and enhancing muscle function and performance based on each client's individual capabilities.
  • Oversee the activities of Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure the appropriate execution of care plans, and provide mentorship and guidance in their treatment practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients’ functional levels, utilizing diagnostic tests on muscle, nerve, and joint performance to inform treatment strategies.
  • Assess home environments for rehabilitation potential and provide actionable recommendations to enhance clients’ independence.
  • Administer prescribed therapy services, including therapeutic exercises and treatments such as traction and massage, while motivating clients during their programs.
  • Manage the evaluation and fitting of prosthetic and orthotic devices, collaborating with physicians for any necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain meticulous clinical records, including initial evaluations, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, to ensure compliance with documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team during case conferences to develop and adapt comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Educate clients and their families on the use of therapy devices and the holistic aspects of their therapy regimen, fostering self-management and independence.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on a diverse patient demographic requiring rehabilitation services in a home care environment. This may include elderly clients recovering from surgery, individuals managing chronic pain or mobility issues, and patients in need of post-discharge support. Your compassionate care and professional expertise will be critical in helping these patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and enhancing their overall well-being.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).
  • A valid and current physical therapy license in the State of Virginia.

  • Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
