The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.

We have a near-term need for a Briefing Coordinator to provide onsite support out of Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

SPA is looking for an onsite SETA to support DARPA Front Office operations to include technical writing, briefing coordination, and general support to office leadership. The candidate will provide technical and administrative support, and apply experience supporting R&D or S&T portfolios. Will be responsible for creating technical documents that explain complex ideas to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner. Support will also include designing, organizing, writing, and editing technical documents, researching and documenting new and emerging biological technologies, and working with DARPA leadership and Program Managers to ensure consistency of message across multiple briefs and documents. Examples of work product include responses to inquiries from DoD Components, Congress, and interested stakeholders; PowerPoint slide decks; technical briefs; and program descriptions. Apply expert PowerPoint skills. Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style and content and manage updates and revisions to a comprehensive electronic library of technical documentation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of proven experience working in a technical writing position.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically PowerPoint.

  • Strong attention-to-detail, able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences, and skilled at prioritization and time management. 

  • Ability to work in a team environment is essential. 

  • Active Secret clearance.

  • Ability to report to Arlington up to full-time based upon client needs.

Desired:

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience creating and maintaining databases.
