Job description

Role Description

Senior Bridge Engineer – Nashville, TN. Support and deliver bridge projects across Tennessee and the broader region, serving as a technical lead and mentor to junior staff and CAD technicians.

Role Accountabilities
  • Lead and deliver bridge and structural projects (new design, inspection, repair, rehabilitation), providing technical direction while overseeing plans, calculations, specifications, and QA/QC compliance with DOT and AASHTO LRFD standards.
  • Apply deep expertise in bridge design and analysis using Bentley Open Bridge Designer, MIDAS Civil, AASHTO BrR, MathCAD, and CADD platforms (MicroStation, OpenBridge Modeler, Civil 3D) to develop high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with full accountability for technical delivery, schedule, budget, and risk, ensuring efficient execution and high-performance outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, developing junior engineers and fostering a collaborative, high‑performing project environment.
  • Perform and oversee bridge inspections and load ratings, delivering accurate reports and actionable recommendations aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, cost‑effective solutions, while effectively communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Support business development and growth initiatives, including proposals, scope/fee development, and client engagement; represent the firm in client meetings, industry organizations, and conferences.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of bridge design experience.
  • Experience working with state DOT standards (TDOT or comparable DOT experience preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with Design‑Build delivery methods.
  • Bridge inspection certification (NBIS or equivalent).
Benefits
