Position: Senior Structural Engineer (Bridge Design)

Reports to: Vice President - Structures

Technical Responsibilities

- Manage multiple bridge design projects concurrently, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, to ensure timely and successful project delivery within scope and budget constraints.

- Utilize advanced structural analysis techniques and software tools to perform complex analyses, optimize designs, and ensure structural integrity, efficiency, and safety.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consulting with them to understand project requirements, goals, and constraints, and providing expert technical advice, presentations, and solutions to address their needs.

- Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations governing bridge design and construction, including Bridge Design Specifications, and local building codes.

- Conduct thorough reviews of design calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by the team to verify accuracy, consistency, and adherence to best practices and project requirements.

- Collaborate with construction teams and contractors during the construction phase to address design-related issues, provide clarifications, and ensure that the construction meets design intent and performance expectations.

- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with design projects, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to minimize project delays and cost overruns.

- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and advancements in building and bridge engineering, structural analysis, and design optimization through professional development, training, and participation in industry conferences and forums.

- Drive innovation in design by integrating cutting-edge technologies, materials, and construction methods to enhance performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

- Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers and designers in the development of designs, providing technical guidance, oversight, and support throughout all project phases.

Requirements:

Educational /Professional Experience Required

- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering.

- 10 years’ experience in structural design with NY and NJ PE or the ability to get in within 6 months.

- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, LARSA) and computer-aided design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).

- Knowledgeable with Risa-3D and STAADPro analysis software.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and interact confidently with clients and stakeholders.

- Proven track record of delivering high-quality building and bridge designs on time and within budget, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and client satisfaction.


Professional Development

- Actively participates in professional development and training and licensing.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods (often 6–8 hours a day).

- Maintaining posture while working at a computer.

- Short periods of standing or walking within the office (to printers, meeting rooms, etc.).
