We are currently seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.
Salary range: $81,000 - 120,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

STRUCTURAL BRIDGE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Collaborate with a team on structural analysis and design of various bridge types, including steel beams, prestressed concrete beams, concrete slabs, pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining walls, grade separations, stream crossings, bridge hydraulic analysis, rehabilitation, feasibility studies, structure type studies, load ratings, railroad bridges, and design-build projects.
  • Lead bridge projects as the Bridge Task Coordinator, managing project schedules, tasks, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client goals and deadlines.
  • Provide structural bridge design and plan production support to teams across different office locations.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering professional development while overseeing quality control for bridge design and plan sets.
  • Mentor junior engineers and perform quality control for structural/bridge plan sets.
  • Develop technical memorandums, specifications, feasibility studies, evaluations, and reports, and contribute to proposal development.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

STRUCTURAL BRIDGE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Civil Engineering required. Structural emphasis preferred.
  • PE license is a plus; successful candidates must have or be able to obtain a PE within 1 year of hire.
  • 5-10 years of hands-on bridge/culvert design experience, with a strong background in the full lifecycle of bridge projects
  • Direct experience with DOT bridge design and a thorough understanding of DOT design guidelines, procedures, and plan preparation.
  • In-depth knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and the Manual for Bridge Evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Established relationships with state DOTs and municipalities.
  • Experience with CAD plan development, MicroStation/ORD.

Core Skills:
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers effectively.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality control in all project phases
