Job description

Job Overview
C.W. Matthews is seeking a certified and experienced Crane Operator to join our Bridge Division. This role is essential to the safe and efficient lifting and placement of heavy materials and equipment on bridge construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong safety record, experience in heavy civil or bridge work, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate mobile and fixed cranes to lift, move, and position bridge components such as beams, girders, and precast elements
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of crane equipment
  • Work closely with riggers and signal persons to ensure safe and precise lifting operations
  • Set up and dismantle crane equipment in accordance with project requirements
  • Maintain accurate lift logs and equipment usage records
  • Adhere to all OSHA, DOT, and company safety protocols
  • Assist with other site duties as needed to support bridge construction operations

Qualifications
  • Valid crane operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years of crane operation experience in bridge or heavy civil construction
  • Strong understanding of rigging, load charts, and hand signals
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform duties requiring climbing, stooping, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and travel to job sites as needed
