SFC Civil Constructors, a division of Journey Group, is seeking a full-time Bridge Construction Superintendent. In this role, you will immerse yourself in overseeing the progress and quality of our bridge projects. Your leadership will drive successful outcomes and contribute to our stellar reputation in the industry. What Would you do as a Bridge Construction Superintendent?

  • Oversee all daily civil construction operations, ensuring projects run efficiently and meet quality standards.
  • Manage project budgets and cost tracking to maintain financial performance.
  • Plan and coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and site logistics (including storage and layout).
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to schedule work and resolve construction conflicts.
  • Monitor field productivity and maintain detailed daily reports to ensure cost-effective progress.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and inspections while fostering a strong safety culture.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Technical education and/or 5+ years' work experience is required; or the combination of education to meet the essential job functions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED

  • Use technology and systems effectively, including Microsoft Office and construction reporting tools (e.g., HCSS).
  • Ability to read plans/specs and follow OSHAโ€‘required safe work practices.
  • Strong heavyโ€‘equipment knowledge and safe, efficient work coordination.
  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Independent problem-solving, professionalism, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license required; must be 18+ to work in a construction environment.
  • Ability to travel in and around South Dakota!

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to consistently move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly on job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange accurate information consistently.
  • Consistently works in outdoor weather conditions around 8-12 hours a day.
  • Must be able to retain a stationary position for extended periods of time occasionally depending on the task.
  • Must be able to transfer materials ranging from the ground to overhead consistently.
  • Must be able to move material up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to safely use hand and power tools.
