Job Summary

The Estimator Is Responsible for Preparing Accurate and Competitive Cost Estimates for Heavy Civil Construction Projects, Including Marine, Bridge, and Piling/Drilling Work. This Role Analyzes Project Plans, Specifications, and Site Conditions to Develop Detailed Bids, While Collaborating Closely with Engineering, Project Management, Subcontractors, and Suppliers. the Estimator Plays a Critical Role in Supporting Business Development Efforts by Identifying Risks, Evaluating Project Costs, and Ensuring the Company Submits Well-informed, Competitive Proposals.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Search for and Track Bid Opportunities Daily in Coordination with Senior Estimators/Engineers
  • Review, Analyze, and Interpret Project Plans, Specifications, and Bid Documents
  • Perform Quantity Takeoffs for Labor, Materials, and Equipment
  • Prepare Detailed Cost Estimates and Bid Proposals
  • Evaluate, Qualify, and Solicit Pricing from Subcontractors and Suppliers
  • Assist with Bid Strategy Development and Risk Evaluation
  • Create Project Budgets upon Successful Contract Awards
  • Support Project Handoff from Estimating to Operations As Needed
  • Knowledge of Heavy Civil Construction Estimating Practices, Including Cost Analysis, Quantity Takeoffs, and Bid Preparation, with Preferred Experience in Marine, Bridge, and Piling Projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an Accredited University
  • Minimum of Five (5) Years of Relevant Experience in Heavy Civil Construction Estimating or Engineering (Marine, Bridge, Piling, or Drilling Preferred)
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Primarily Office-based Work Environment with Extended Periods of Sitting, Computer Use, and Screen Time.
  • Ability to Occasionally Travel to Job Sites, Pre-bid Meetings, and Company Locations As Needed.
  • Limited Exposure to Outdoor Environments and Active Construction Sites During Site Visits, Including Varying Weather Conditions.
  • Ability to Lift and Carry up to 25 Lbs. Occasionally (E.g., Plans, Documents, or Office Materials).
Work Schedule
  • Work Hours Are a Minimum of 8:00 Am to 5:00 Pm, Monday Through Friday.
  • Occasional Saturday Work Required some Portions of the Year.
