Position Description
We are seeking qualified applicants with a strong work ethic and positive attitude for positions related to road and bridge construction, earthmoving, site development, underground utilities, and other heavy civil construction. We primarily hire for work in Michigan including Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Grand Rapids and other areas of Michigan.
Job Duties
  • Assist heavy equipment operators and other skilled personnel, as necessary.
  • Prep construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards.
  • Load or unload construction materials.
  • Assist with underground pipe installation including checking grade and hand digging for underground utility lines.
  • Hand dig as necessary
  • Perform jobsite cleanup.
  • Communicate with crewmembers and supervisors to ensure jobsite safety, production and quality standards are met.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule, jobsite location and shift changes.
  • Overtime work is required.

Position Requirements
Essential Qualifications
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to the jobsite location.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age.
  • CDL license is preferred.

Education/Experience
  • 1 or more years of road construction experience is preferred.
  • High School diploma is preferred.

Work Requirements
  • Strict Adherence to safety requirements, procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • We require pre-employment as well as recurring random drug screening for all employees regardless of their role in the Company.

Physical Requirements
  • This position requires time spent walking, standing, bending, lifting, climbing and sitting.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong work ethic and ability to perform manual labor.

Work Environment
  • This position involves outdoor work. Candidates must be able to work extended/overtime hours on job sites in adverse weather conditions including heat, sun, cold and rain.

Pay and Benefits:
    • $28.00-32.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
    • Health insurance plan through Laborers Local 355.
    • Pension plan through Laborers Local 355.
