Responsibilities
- Performs duties related to drug screen collections including: urine collections, urine rapid testing, breath alcohol testing, hair collections, and oral fluid collections
- Verifies donor identity with valid ID and confirms the reason for the test per program requirements for pre-employment, random, annual, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug testing in accordance with DOT or non-DOT requirements
- Gives detailed instructions to the donor during the collection process, including collection protocols and procedures
- Verifies validity of specimen before accepting and packaging for the lab to test or running rapid tests
- Knows when and how to perform observed collections based on DOT and non-DOT requirements
- Completes all DPT drug screens in accordance with 49 CFR Part 40 urine and alcohol collection guidelines
- Properly obtains and collects oral fluid and hair specimens according to kit manufacturer guidelines
- Explains employer drug screen information while maintaining HIPAA and OSHA compliance
- Must be able to complete DOT urine and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) training and become certified after hiring
- Needs a reliable mode of transportation for local travel, if needed
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- Certification to perform DOT urine collections and breath alcohol testing Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
