NOW HIRING .... Plant Maintenance Engineer, Full Time, on-site. Union position in a Bread Manufacturing Plant.

What you will be doing

We are seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Engineer to keep our bread manufacturing operations running at peak efficiency. This is a critical hands-on role in a production facility where equipment uptime directly impacts product quality and output. As a Maintenance Engineer you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of automated and mechanical systems and complete preventative maintenance. You will prioritize the safety of yourself, your coworkers, and the company. 

Plant equipment you will be working on will include but limited to the ff.:

Knowledge and skills required / preferred for this role

Key Requirement: Candidates must have hands-on working knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives). This is essential to the role and will be tested during the selection process.

PLC

Read, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC logic. Diagnose faults, modify parameters, and work 

with OEM technical support when needed.

VFD

Configure, tune, and diagnose VFDs across mixer, conveyor, and oven systems. Understand 

parameter settings and drive replacement.

Electrical Systems

Understand electrical schematics, work safely on control panels, sensors, and circuits in 

compliance with electrical safety codes.

Mechanical Systems

Understand bearings, drive systems, and mechanical alignments.

Refrigeration Systems

Understand refrigerants and compressor systems to service and maintain refrigeration units.

Boller & Steam Systems

Operate and maintain boilers and steam traps.

Waste Water Systems

Support in maintaining plant wastewater treatment systems to meet environmental 

regulations.

Quality Equipment

Maintain and calibrate check weighers and metal detectors to ensure food safety and 

regulatory compliance.

Food Safety & GMP

Apply food-grade lubricants, follow good manufacturing practices and ensure all maintenance 

work protects product integrity.

Preventive Maintenance

Perform scheduled PMs, communicate preventive maintenance needs and ensure 

compliance. Identify malfunctions. Follow diagrams, manuals, and specifications for repairs

Fabrication

Fabricate repair parts using machine shop tools. Knowledge of welding preferred.

Documentation & Parts

Complete daily maintenance paperwork and prepare equipment setups for daily production. 

Help to maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.

What we are searching for

  • Education: Diploma or certification or degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a combination or other equivalent qualification to be able to work independently 

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience in food manufacturing or a similar automated production environment to be able to work independently 

  • Availability: Must be available to work all shifts, including nights and weekends per business needs. 

    • Ability to read and follow schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints. 

    • Ability to follow diagrams, manuals, and specifications for repairs. 

    • Ability to Inspect and remove defective parts using hand and power tools. 

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs., work on heights and work in noisy environments. 

  • Certification / plus to have or willing to obtain 

    • LME (Limited Maintenance Electrical) License or willing to obtain one preferred 

    • EPA Refrigeration certification or willing to obtain one preferred 

    • Boiler operator license or willing to obtain one preferred 

    • Forklift or powered equipment certification or willing to obtain one preferred
