Job description

The Senior Buyer for Jewelry, Footwear & Accessories (F&A) is responsible for securing and scaling a highly coveted, market-driven assortment of shoes, bags, jewelry, and accessories that our customers can use to complete their looks. We are looking for an extensively connected, market-focused buyer who can leverage relationships with buzzy, high-demand brands while also navigating internal brand synergies. This role is strictly focused on market curation, internal brand buys, trend identification, and securing the best assortments for the Nuuly customer.

  • Market Merchandising & Strategy: Build a curated assortment of premium and trend-forward footwear, bags, jewelry and accessories. The strategy should focus on bringing external brand heat to the Nuuly platform, and encourage retention and engagement.
  • Financial Acumen & OTB Management: Exhibit sharp financial acumen by fully owning the OTB (Open-to-Buy) for the F&A categories. Deliver on sales volume, margin, and sell-through metrics. Partner with Planning to manage inventory flow, Open-to-Buy dollars, and markdown strategies.
  • Vendor Strategy & Negotiation: Lead direct vendor negotiations, margin agreements, and operational onboarding for brand partners. Additionally, strategically partner with our current internal brands to secure their best-in-class assortments exclusively for Nuuly.
  • Reporting & Analytics Partnership: Collaborate closely with the RADS (Reporting, Analytics, Data Science) team to define and build the foundational reporting dashboards required for these categories. Routinely synthesize this data to report out on business performance, financial metrics, and strategic insights to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Trend & Curation: Maintain an elite understanding of macro- and micro-fashion trends. Partner with Creative and Digital Merchandising to ensure the F&A product is styled and presented contextually alongside Nuuly's apparel.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the linchpin between Buying, Planning, Digital Merchandising, Marketing, Brand Creative, and Tech teams. Ensure the unique needs of selling bags, jewelry, footwear and accessories online (e.g., detailed fit and sizing guides, material/hardware specifications, and contextual styling) are seamlessly supported by the site architecture and digital presentation.
  • Communication: Act as the face of Nuuly to the F&A vendor community and our internal brand partners. Foster a sound partnership across all internal business functions to communicate concepts, delivery updates, and trend information.
  • Organizational Design & Team Building: Establish an organizational philosophy and operational framework for buying within this category ; partner closely with the Head of Product to forecast departmental budgets, define resource needs, and scale the buying team as the business grows.

  • 5+ years of buying experience across multiple Jewelry, Footwear & Accessories categories.
  • Must come from a highly trend-driven, premium, or "cool" retail environment.
  • Strong financial acumen and proven experience successfully owning and managing an OTB.
  • Strict focus on market buying and brand curation (experience rooted solely in in-house PD/design will not be a fit).
  • Exceptional vendor network and established relationships within the contemporary and advanced contemporary F&A markets, as well as the ability to navigate internal corporate matrixes.
  • Strong collaborative skills with a proven track record of partnering with Planning, Tech, Creative, and Digital Merchandising teams.
  • True entrepreneurial risk mentality with the ability to own, articulate, and execute a clear vision.
