What is a Brand Creator?

A Brand Creator is a professional who develops and shapes a company's or product's brand identity. This involves designing visual elements like logos and color schemes, crafting messaging and tone of voice, and ensuring consistency across all marketing channels. Brand Creators work to establish a unique and recognizable presence in the market that resonates with the target audience. Their role is crucial in differentiating a business from competitors and building customer loyalty.

What does a brand creator do?

A brand creator develops and establishes a company's brand identity, including visual elements, messaging, and positioning to differentiate it in the market. They often conduct market research, create branding strategies, and collaborate with designers and marketing teams to build a consistent brand image. Strong communication skills and knowledge of branding tools are essential for this role.

What is the difference between Brand Creator vs Content Creator?

AspectBrand CreatorContent Creator

While a Brand Creator focuses on building and defining a brand's identity and strategy, a Content Creator produces the actual content used to engage audiences. Both roles are essential in marketing but serve different purposes within brand development and content production.

Is AI replacing graphic designers?

AI is transforming the role of brand creators and graphic designers by automating repetitive tasks and generating design options, but it does not fully replace the need for human creativity, strategic thinking, and brand understanding. Designers who adapt by learning to work with AI tools can enhance their productivity and innovation. The profession continues to value skills such as visual communication, branding, and software proficiency like Adobe Creative Suite.

What are some common challenges faced by Brand Creators when developing a new brand identity?

Brand Creators often encounter challenges such as aligning the brand’s visual identity with its core values, differentiating the brand in a crowded market, and ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. Balancing creativity with practicality—meeting both the client’s vision and the target audience’s expectations—can also be demanding. Additionally, Brand Creators regularly collaborate with marketing, product, and design teams to ensure a unified approach, which requires strong communication and project management skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Brand Creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Brand Creator, you need a solid background in marketing strategy, graphic design, and brand development, often supported by a degree in marketing, design, or a related field. Familiarity with design software like Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, and market research tools is typically required. Creativity, strong communication, and the ability to understand and convey a brand’s vision are crucial soft skills that set top performers apart. These skills ensure the effective creation and management of compelling brand identities that resonate with target audiences and drive business growth.

What kind of jobs in media bring in $150,000 a year?

In media, high-paying roles such as senior brand managers, media directors, and content strategists can earn $150,000 or more annually. These positions typically require extensive experience, strong leadership skills, and proficiency with digital marketing tools and analytics platforms.

What are red flags when hiring a designer?

Red flags when hiring a brand creator or designer include inconsistent or incomplete portfolios, poor communication skills, lack of relevant experience or skills in branding tools like Adobe Creative Suite, and an inability to understand or align with brand goals. Additionally, reluctance to provide references or a clear process can indicate potential issues with reliability or professionalism.

Influencer Affiliate Manager

tarte cosmetics

At tarte, we believe in high-performance beauty that’s good for you — and in partnering with creators who genuinely love our products. We’re looking for an Influencer Affiliate Manager to help scale and optimize our fast-growing affiliate ecosystem across TikTok Shop, tarte.com, Amazon, and leading affiliate platforms.

This role is ideal for a strategic, detail-oriented marketer who understands creator commerce, performance marketing, and how to turn influencer content into measurable revenue. You’ll partner closely with the Senior Influencer Marketing Manager & VP of Digital Marketing and work cross-functionally to drive results during launches, promotions, and tentpole moments.

Role Overview

The Influencer Affiliate Manager will own day-to-day execution and optimization of tarte’s affiliate programs, supporting creator onboarding, campaign execution, gifting operations, performance tracking, and reporting across all affiliate channels. This role plays a critical part in driving affiliate revenue, scaling high-performing creators, and ensuring seamless program operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize tarte’s affiliate programs across TikTok Shop, tarte.com, Amazon, and key affiliate platforms (including ShopMy and LTK)
  • Oversee creator onboarding, ongoing communication, and relationship management across all affiliate channels
  • Execute affiliate activations tied to product launches, promotions, seasonal moments, and tentpole events, including commission boosts and creator contests
  • Track and analyze creator performance (GMV, sales, traffic, ROI) to identify top performers, growth opportunities, and optimization strategies
  • Monitor TikTok trends, sounds, and content formats to inform creator briefs, outreach, and activation strategies
  • Manage affiliate operations including link and code creation, attribution accuracy, creator tracking, and commission eligibility
  • Coordinate affiliate gifting and product sampling, including order placement, tracking, and follow-ups
  • Maintain organized creator and affiliate documentation, including contact info, platform participation, links, codes, gifting history, and performance notes
  • Pull and deliver weekly and monthly performance reporting with clear insights and recommendations
  • Identify and scale high-performing and emerging creators across platforms, including Amazon-first and TikTok Shop–native creators
  • Stay current on affiliate platform updates, best practices, and new opportunities to support program growth
  • Support the Senior Influencer Marketing Manager & VP of Digital Marketing with execution, reporting, and ongoing program optimization

Who You Are

  • 5–7 years of experience in influencer marketing, affiliate marketing, or creator partnerships, ideally within beauty, fashion, or consumer brands
  • BA/BS degree
  • Proven experience managing affiliate programs and platforms such as TikTok Shop, LTK, ShopMy, Amazon Affiliates, and/or in-house affiliate tools
  • Strong understanding of creator commerce, performance marketing, and social-driven sales
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple programs, creators, and timelines simultaneously
  • Comfortable analyzing performance data including GMV, revenue, conversion rate, ROI, and commission structures
  • Deep familiarity with TikTok trends, creator ecosystems, and social-first content formats
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, on-brand creator briefs and outreach
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through, especially around links, codes, attribution, and reporting accuracy
  • Collaborative, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Passionate about beauty, creators, and representing the tarte brand externally
  • Experience scaling or launching new affiliate programs
  • Experience working closely with Amazon storefronts or Amazon-first creators

Our Perks:

  • Salary range: $80,000-100,000 (Compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill level, relevant work experience & education)
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401K plan & access to health & wellness programs
  • Paid vacation, holidays, summer Fridays, birthdays off, volunteer time & more
  • Makeup gratis, employee discount on tarte.com, team give back initiatives
  • Friendly, fun, creative & collaborative work environment
