Job description

THE NORMAL BRAND: Location: St. Louis, MO.

The Normal Brand has gained a reputation for providing durable and long-lasting products that is above all - comfortable. Jimmy Sansone started the company by selling online out of his parents' basement in 2015, and was soon joined by his brothers, Conrad and Lan to run it together. They opened their first brand store in 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri, which has been voted the number one men's clothing store in St. Louis for two years running. The Normal Brand now operates eleven brick and mortar stores of its own around the country, sells to 500 wholesale partners, and sells online through its website, which serves customers across the United States and globally at https://thenormalbrand.com/.

PATTERN MAKER: We are seeking a highly experienced Pattern Maker with extensive expertise in both men's and women's ready-to-wear. The ideal candidate has spent years developing premium apparel across multiple product categories and possesses an exceptional understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and manufacturing. This person will translate design concepts into production-ready patterns while driving consistency, quality, and technical excellence throughout the development process. This role requires someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, mentoring others, and partnering closely with both domestic teams and overseas factories.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Engineer garments that balance aesthetics, comfort, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure patterns are optimized for efficient production without compromising quality.
  • Participate in all fit sessions.
  • Execute precise pattern corrections following fittings.
  • Partner with Fit Team for alignments on improvements that enhance fit, durability, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain consistent fit standards across all product categories.
  • Collaborate with Product Development on prototype evaluation and construction methods.
  • Communicate directly with overseas factories to resolve pattern and fit challenges.
  • Maintain pattern libraries, version control, and documentation.
  • Review factory patterns to ensure consistency with TNB standards.
  • Help establish best practices across men's and women's product categories.
  • Build and maintain master blocks across key categories.
  • Improve fit consistency season after season.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline development while maintaining premium quality.

A person who joins our team must be three things: humble, hungry, smart. We stole that from a book written by a guy much smarter than us. In addition, to the HHS requirements for all teammates, for this role, here are some other things we are looking for:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of professional pattern making experience within premium apparel.
  • Extensive experience in both men's and women's ready-to-wear.
  • Strong background across knitwear, wovens, outerwear, bottoms, and dresses.
  • Experience creating patterns from concept through production.
  • Deep understanding of garment construction and manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience working directly with overseas factories.
  • Gerber AccuMark or similar proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Lectra or similar CAD systems considered.
  • Strong grading knowledge.
  • Exceptional understanding of garment balance, ease, proportion, and fit.
  • Knowledge of industrial sewing methods and factory construction techniques.

Above all, we offer the chance for growth. We are a young company started in a basement 9 years ago, and we have a lot to prove. We want to add people to the team who want to be a part of this family and grow within it for life. In addition to that, we also offer:

       Health, Dental, Vision Insurance available

       401K
