Cal-Line Equipment, an Owen company, is looking to hire an experienced Branch Operations Manager to join our growing team. We specialize in vegetation management equipment, catering to the arborist industry and are the largest dealer in the world for Bandit Industriesโ€™ market leading product line of woodchippers, stump grinders and whole-tree chippers. We have six locations across the Western U.S. including locations in California, Oregon, and Washington. In addition, we are a leader in promoting education within our industry, conducting seminars ranging from safety, operations and maintenance and bugs and disease.

Salary: $115,000 - $140,000 annually

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing branch team, including sales, service, and parts departments.
  • Foster a safety-first culture and ensure all employees follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety guidelines.
  • Provide strong leadership through setting clear expectations, conducting regular team meetings, and building accountability.
  • Drive a positive and professional customer experience at every touchpoint.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Own the P&L for the branch, ensuring profitability, expense control, and revenue growth.
  • Analyze and interpret financial reports (sales, margins, expenses, inventory turns) to make informed business decisions.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all departments to ensure consistent, high-quality operations.
  • Manage branch overhead, budgets, and forecasting to meet or exceed targets.

Sales & Business Development

  • Partner with sales teams to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals.
  • Support account managers in developing customer relationships and identifying new market opportunities.
  • Oversee inside sales efforts, ensuring timely follow-up and outstanding customer communication.
  • Promote rental fleet utilization and growth as a profit center.

Service, Parts & Rental Operations

  • Work closely with service and parts managers to ensure shop efficiency, parts availability, and timely repairs.
  • Monitor rental fleet health, availability, and profitability, ensuring equipment is well-maintained and ready for customers.
  • Drive best practices in service workflows, technician scheduling, and warranty processes.

Vendor & Supplier Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with OEMs and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring timely parts/equipment availability.
  • Stay current on new product offerings, technical updates, and market trends.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Collaborate with Regional Manager and leadership team to set and execute branch growth strategies.
  • Contribute operational insights to regional and company-wide planning.
  • Continuously improve processes and implement initiatives that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience managing a branch, store, or dealership environment (equipment, automotive, or related industry preferred).
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and employee development skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements, budgets, and KPIs; experience managing P&L.
  • In-depth knowledge of service shop operations, parts logistics, and inventory management.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor management abilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, dealership management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a hands-on environment as needed

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with forestry, tree care, or heavy equipment industries.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and environmental safety standards.
  • Background in rental fleet operations or fleet asset management.
  • Ability to create and implement branch-level business plans and growth initiatives.
