Job description

Under the supervision of site management, this part-time/on-call position provides flexible coverage across two critical administrative and security-support functions at bp Cherry Point Refinery. The role supports refinery mailroom operations, visitor reception, access control, and general office administrative duties while maintaining a strong focus on safety, security, and customer service. This position serves as backfill and break relief for the Mail Clerk and Security Receptionist and may also assist with related administrative and security functions as needed.

Flex/On-Call Security Officers typically work a 8-hour shift, Monday - Friday, with a varying schedule based upon contracted staffing requirements. This position may work up to 40 hours/week. To be considered, candidates must have open availability to work varied shifts (at times on short notice) and maintain good attendance.

Required Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Prior experience in mailroom operations, administrative support, receptionist, or customer-facing security roles preferred, or a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Washington Unarmed Security Guard License
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask with limited supervision
  • Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks related to mail handling
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English and follow written and verbal policies and procedures
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm during incidents, confrontations, or emergency situations
  • Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests.
  • This position has been designated as safety-sensitive. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, criminal background check, and post-offer basic physical.

* Applicable licensing and fingerprinting fees will be paid by the employer.

Essential Functions
  • Provide reception and access control services, including greeting visitors and employees, checking in visitors using access control/badging systems, maintaining visitor logs, and notifying appropriate escort personnel.
  • Perform mailroom operations, including receiving, sorting, distributing, and shipping mail and packages from USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, and other carriers, as well as processing outgoing and certified mail.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle to conduct mail pickup and delivery services throughout refinery grounds and transport outgoing mail to the post office as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining safety and security protocols, serving as a professional first point of contact for visitors, employees, and client representatives.
  • Provide administrative and office support, including operating the VoIP telephone system, maintaining organized workspaces, managing office supplies, and completing clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and critical situations, following site-specific security, safety, and emergency response procedures.
  • Support contract security operations, including participating in required training, maintaining professional working relationships, and providing break relief or coverage for reception and administrative staff.
  • Provide customer service to the client by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.

PAY

This position starts at $22.86/hour, plus additional for all overtime hours.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This is a safety-sensitive position based in an indoor office setting, and working around an oil refinery while operating a vehicle. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based upon the work environment area or governmental regulations, as required.
