Overview

TECHNICAL WRITER (EAISP):

Bowhead is seeking a Technical Writer for its Gunter Annex Air Force base location at Maxwell/Gunter Annex, AL. The Technical Writer will prepare, edit, and publish Enterprise Architecture (EA) documents, user guides, and technical standards for Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). The Technical Writer will be primarily responsible for publishing the EA views created by the architecture team. Furthermore, they will act as a crucial bridge between systems engineers and end-users by organizing system architecture into clear, actionable documentation. The position will be part of a collaborative team consisting of Enterprise Architects and System Administrators.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Enterprise Architect in formatting, editing, and publishing comprehensive Enterprise Architecture (EA) documentation. The contractor will be responsible for the publication of EA views developed by the architecture team, ensuring strict alignment with established program standards
  • Help develop, maintain, and update user guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and technical standards governing system configurations
  • Review architecture documentation for compliance with program standards under the guidance of senior team members
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Architects and system administrators to translate technical processes into accessible documentation for various stakeholders
  • Assist with configuration management of technical documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) to support team's operational requirements

About this Contract: Bowhead provides Enterprise and System Architecture Support to the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. Possible work sites are Wright-Patterson AFB, Gunter Annex, and Robins AFB. The AFLCMC/GBA Enterprise Architecture Services Group encompass the following disciplines within architecture: application or solution architecture, data architecture, and architecture maintenance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline is required
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience in technical writing, IT operations, or related field is recommended but not required
  • Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) as well as Adobe is recommended
  • Experience in preparing technical documentation is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new technical concepts, tools, and processes
  • Experience utilizing Enterprise Architecture modeling tools and formatting EA views is recommended but not required
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF) and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) is recommended but not required

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
