Are you a self-motivated, enthusiastic, driven individual? Then we have the job for you! Georgia-Pacific is seeking safety-oriented individuals to join our team as a Machinist in Toledo, OR. These positions are a vital resource for our ongoing success and productivity. We are very interested in learning more about you! The Machinist position starts out with a pay of $40.47 per hour with an increase to $41.02/hour after 120-day probationary period with completion of multi-craft training or demonstrated multi-craft skills. This position will start on a day shift but will need to be available to work a 12 hour rotation in future.
Our Team
Georgia-Pacific Containerboard in Toledo, OR facility is a containerboard mill that was built in 1957 as the company's first pulp and paper mill. The facility has approximately 400 employees and manufactures both linerboard and corrugated medium on three paper machines, using both virgin and recycled fiber. The mill and its employees are committed to sustainability for the benefit of the environment, society and our business. What You Will Do
  • Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machining tools to perform precision machining operations (lathe, milling machine, drill press etc.)
  • Machine and fabricate a variety of parts and components to include shafts, bushings, pins, gears, hubs, bearings, keyways etc.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision measurement tools
  • Conduct maintenance on equipment in accordance with the scheduled maintenance requirements
  • Work closely with various members of the maintenance team to collaborate on projects and work orders
  • Adhere to and promote all safety policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment throughout the plant

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in vertical mills and lathes
  • Experience completing job setups independently
  • Experience in machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum
  • Knowledge of tool holders, insert types, lathe threading, turning and boring setups
  • Experience in geometric tolerances, inspection gages, and layout procedures
  • Experience operating hoisting and lifting devices

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience in fabrication, welding and utilizing cutting torches
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience with laser alignment and precision maintenance
  • Technical degree or higher in Machine Technology or Machine Tool Technology
