Description
Scott Manufacturing Solutions is looking for a skilled General Labor Paint Prepper for our first shift who will, under supervision, prepare metal surfaces for priming and painting, clean and maintain the spray booth and paint equipment, and assist other departments as needed.
Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned:
โ€ข Apply coating with electric static airless spray guns.
โ€ข Maintain painting equipment, which includes making minor repairs and ensuring proper supplies are on hand to complete assigned tasks.
โ€ข Work effectively as a member of a team, while continuously striving to improve and develop individual skills and knowledge.
โ€ข Mixing of coating epoxies.
โ€ข Operating caulking guns to apply sealant.
โ€ข Apply epoxy and polyurethane coatings in a manufacturing environment.
โ€ข Meet or exceed deadlines and schedules.
โ€ข Comply with all safety rules and guidelines.
โ€ข Responsible for properly managing hazardous waste generated from paint, solvent, and coating processes.
โ€ข Ensure paint waste, thinners, and solvent residues are collected in sealed, labeled containers that are displayed "Hazardous Waste" and stored in approved accumulation areas.
โ€ข Date the start of waste accumulation for "Hazardous Waste" containers.
โ€ข Properly dispose of used filters, masking materials, and contaminated items through the hazardous waste system.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Knowledge of surface preparation, such as sanding surfaces, applying filler and removing imperfections, priming surfaces, and masking areas from paint.
โ€ข Operate various pieces of equipment, such as Forklifts, spray guns, and other specialty equipment.
โ€ข Able to sand and prep metal surfaces for paint.
Education and Experience:
โ€ข High school diploma or GED equivalent.
โ€ข One to two years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent.
โ€ข A combination of education and experience.
