Job/FLSA Status:ย Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to:ย Assistant Principal for Instruction
Position Summary:ย To operate the bookstore in a proficient and business-like manner and serve as a backup for receptionist and administrative assistants as needed.
Role Qualifications:





  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Proficient in handling money, bookkeeping, accounting, inventory, and operation of point-of-sale (POS) systemย 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office machines/equipment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Possesses keyboard and word processing skills

  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Receives receipts, accounts, and deposits all local funds generated through revenue from books, miscellaneous supplies, cafeteria items/lunches, sports, student activity funds, student fees, tuition.

  • Disburses book refunds.

  • Orders all books and miscellaneous bookstore supplies for the school.

  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all books and miscellaneous supplies.

  • Prices and barcodes all books and miscellaneous supplies.

  • Maintains accurate records of loaned books.

  • Coordinates copier services, maintains printer/copier supplies and submits service requests .

  • Prepares and oversees book pick-up and return activities as well as book refunds.

  • Informs the business office of all deposits.

  • Sells beanies, P.E. uniforms and locks and maintains the combination records, etc.

  • Travels to and makes daily bank deposits.

  • Checks out books to all classes.

  • Processes student fees and fee waivers.

  • Registers and accepts payments for drivers education behind-the-wheel students.

  • Performs any other related duties when requested by the Assistant Principal for Instruction.

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. ย Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.


Terms of Employment:

  • 12-month work year;
  • Starting wage between $23.00 - $24.15/hour, based on education and verified experience;
  • Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension;
  • Sick, personal, and vacation days;
  • 15+ paid holidays;
  • 30-minute unpaid lunch, two paid 15-minute breaks;
  • Generous fringe benefits as provided by the current Local #943 Agreement;
