Location: In-office, 4 days per week (schedule flexible/candidate's choice)

Schedule: Monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping cycles


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our office as an independent contractor. Our team manages bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients across a variety of industries and business styles, and we're looking for someone who thrives on juggling multiple accounts while keeping everything organized and on schedule.

This role requires strong QuickBooks Online expertise, excellent client communication skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload (30+ bookkeeping accounts) without sacrificing accuracy or timeliness. Note: we do not use Journal Entry style bookkeeping in our workflow.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Full-Charge Bookkeeping and payroll experience
  • Minimum 3 years of proficient, hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
  • QuickBooks Online Certified, or Certificate Requested/in progress
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage 30+ client accounts simultaneously
  • Customer service–oriented with professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating with clients in person, by phone, and via email
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of company and industry bookkeeping styles
  • Ability to train clients on QuickBooks Online when needed


Preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business. Preferred, not required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for an assigned portfolio of clients
  • Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable management, including vendor and client relations
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Process payroll, including payroll tax filings and payments
  • Manage business expenses
  • Process client contracts and payments
  • Prepare financial reports, including accurate Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets
  • Maintain an organized, self-directed workflow to keep all accounts current within appropriate timeframes
  • Attend monthly and quarterly meetings with our bookkeeping team to review and adjust workflows
  • Train clients on QuickBooks Online as needed


Additional Details

  • A QuickBooks proficiency test will be administered during the interview process
  • This is a 1099 independent contractor position with 4 in-office days per week, at a schedule of the contractor's choosing
