Sales Executive, P&C - Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for generating sales opportunities with new clients within a defined market while building, maintaining, and growing a book of business aligned to annual production goals. The role is accountable for executing a personal sales strategy, driving cross-sell opportunities, and providing consultative risk management solutions. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring proactive prospecting, client relationship development, and full lifecycle sales execution in support of organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Leadership & Ownership
• Ownership of personal sales pipeline, book of business, and production goals.
• Development and execution of an individual sales development plan.
• Acting as a subject matter expert in insurance products, risk management, and client solutions.
• Aligning sales strategy with organizational growth initiatives.
Hands-On Execution & Delivery
• Executing proactive prospecting strategies including cold outreach, networking, and referral generation.
• Identifying decision-makers and securing meetings and presentations.
• Conducting detailed analysis of prospective clients' insurance and risk programs.
• Designing and customizing insurance solutions and presenting recommendations.
• Applying closing techniques to secure new business and achieve sales targets.
Reporting, Quality & Operational Support
• Maintaining accurate and timely CRM records including contacts, activities, opportunities, and outcomes.
• Ensuring quality, accuracy, and completeness of proposals, presentations, and sales documentation.
• Monitoring pipeline activity and proactively managing follow-ups and next steps.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Integration
• Partnering with internal service teams and practice leaders to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Collaborating to identify and execute cross-sell opportunities across all lines of business.
• Ensuring seamless transition from sales to service and ongoing client support.
Growth, Change & Special Initiatives
• Participating in business development meetings and company initiatives.
• Attending industry events, seminars, and training to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Staying current on market trends, legislative changes, and new products.
Process Improvement & Best Practices
• Identifying opportunities to improve personal sales effectiveness and processes.
• Leveraging insights and trends to refine prospecting and closing strategies.
• Supporting adoption of consistent tools, processes, and best practices.
Center of Excellence (COE) Contribution
• Contributing market feedback, sales insights, and client needs to broader organizational strategy.
• Supporting development of scalable sales practices, tools, and approaches.
Accountability
The role is accountable for achieving annual production goals, consistently generating new business, growing and retaining a profitable book of business, maintaining strong client relationships, and demonstrating ownership and accountability across the full sales lifecycle.
Qualifications
Required
• 3-5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven insurance brokerage sales experience.
• Experience in Property & Casualty, Life & Health, Personal Lines, or Retirement Planning.
• Appropriate insurance licensing required.
Preferred
• Established professional network and referral sources.
• Active participation in community or industry organizations.
