ROLE: Buyer

This is an on-site role based in Hauppauge, NY.

Performs a variety of activities related to the procurement of products, inventory management and logistics in accordance with purchasing regulations and procedures. These activities include purchase order administration, open order book management, freight selection, inventory planning models, cost negotiation and communication with internal and external contacts. This position requires initiative, independent judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships with our Strategic Partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administers purchase orders from approval phase through order placement and acknowledgment.
  • Manages Strategic Partner open backlog to ensure timely delivery of products and minimize past dues.
  • Identification and selection of cost-effective logistics providers.
  • Clear and concise communication with both internal and external contacts. Schedules regular calls with supplier base.
  • Recommends and creates inventory planning models to satisfy customer demands and optimize turns.
  • Processes unique purchasing transactions according to company policy and ASA or ISO standards, industry specifications, and government regulations.
  • Identifies and selects strategic suppliers to procure products, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date.
  • In some instances, the Buyer will be responsible for the oversite of customs clearance requirements.
  • Works with Product Management to ensure the correct products are in place to achieve sales forecast and order fill rates.
  • KPI's: Product Line Sales to Forecast, Order Fill Rates, Supplier Delivery Performance and Inventory Turns.
  • Supports kitting programs with sourcing components and releasing jobs into production.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with suppliers and internal personnel.
  • Inventory planning and freight cost reduction.
