A global engineering and construction firm specializing in water, environment, transportation, energy, and facilities is seeking an experienced Project Manager for project/s with the City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering (BOE), Environmental Engineering Division (EED). The project/s will be at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant in Los Angeles, CA. This position is focused on project management services such as initiating projects, scoping projects, obtaining funding approval, writing pre-design reports, coordinating design activities, conducting technical workshops, writing Board Reports, and managing project schedules/budgets.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment principles and their translation to studies, designs, and construction of those facilities.
  • Basic knowledge in the areas of:
  1. Hydraulic calculations
  2. Process calculations/computer simulations
  3. Environmental chemistry
  4. Environmental biology
  • Basic knowledge of various processes such as: Headworks, primary clarifiers, aeration basins, secondary clarifiers, BNR processes, disinfection processes, anaerobic digestion, solids dewatering, digester gas management and cleaning, co-generation, and membrane processes.
  • Familiar with process related environmental regulations and permitting issues.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on-time and on-budget.
  • Understanding of process flow diagrams, process descriptions, process mass and heat balances, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
  • Ability to conduct independent investigations and collect data.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project software.
  • Experience in preparing and compiling pre-design report, technical memorandums, and concept reports.
  • Ability to initiate and manage the design of wastewater treatment plant projects consisting of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural components.
  • Ability to effectively monitor and track project expenditures to ensure that budgets are adhered to.
  • Ability to effectively monitor and track project schedules to ensure that projects are completed on time.
  • Experience in preparing and giving presentations regarding project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Good understanding of safety issues including Cal OSHA regulations.

Education/Certifications & Project Management experience

  • Minimum education: BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • A minimum of 10 years project management experience in the field of wastewater treatment or related field.
