Job description

A long-established, family-owned mechanical contractor providing comprehensive in-house mechanical construction services for commercial projects is seeking a Project Engineer to help them successfully plan, execute, and close construction projects while supporting the Project Manager. You'll coordinate vendors, subcontractors, engineering teams, and field activities to keep projects on schedule, within scope, and aligned with quality standards at their project locations.

Your Day Includes

  • Build and maintain product submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, as-builts, O&M manuals, and project logs.
  • Request, evaluate, and compare vendor, subcontractor, consultant, equipment, and material quotes.
  • Prepare subcontractor contracts, change estimates, transmittals, and change orders for Project Manager review.
  • Conduct weekly site visits to verify installations, inspect shipments and fabrication, and document completed work.
  • Participate in preconstruction, QA/QC, startup, commissioning, and cross-training activities while promptly communicating safety, schedule, design, or cost concerns.

Must Haves

  • 0–5 years of experience in construction or related trades; BSME or Construction Management degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of or willingness to learn HVAC/plumbing design, estimating, scheduling, purchasing, accounting, and project management software, including Excel, Word, Bluebeam, BIM360, and Microsoft Project.
