Bloomberg's CTO Office is the future-looking technical and product arm of Bloomberg L.P. We envision, design, and prototype the next generation infrastructure, hardware, and applications for the Bloomberg Terminal. Our work spans generative AI, cloud and platform strategy, open-source stewardship, developer productivity, and applied research. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly central to Bloomberg's products and operations, Responsible AI is a strategic priority across the company.
What's In It For You
We are seeking a Technical Architect, Responsible AI to advance Bloomberg's responsible AI agenda. This is a highly cross-functional role at the intersection of research, technology, governance, and execution. You will work closely with senior technical leaders, researchers, engineers, product teams, legal and compliance partners, and business stakeholders to ensure Bloomberg's AI systems are trustworthy, transparent, and aligned with evolving industry standards and regulatory expectations.
You will contribute both strategic thinking and hands-on execution including conducting original research, developing evaluation and governance frameworks, and influencing technical direction. You will drive complex initiatives from concept through implementation. Success in this role requires the ability to move fluidly between deep technical discussions and executive-level communication, while building alignment across diverse stakeholders.
We'll trust you to
  • Engage with the broader AI and research community in discourse on responsible AI through conferences, workshops, shared tasks, and other collaborative efforts.
  • Develop frameworks, methodologies, and best practices for evaluating and deploying AI systems responsibly at scale.
  • Lead strategic and tactical engagements across the company, rapidly synthesizing technical, regulatory, and business considerations into actionable recommendations.
  • Translate emerging AI research, policy, and regulatory developments into practical guidance for internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct original, high-impact research in responsible AI, contributing to both internal advancements and the broader AI community.

You'll need to have:
  • Ph.D. in computer science, machine learning, NLP, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong track record of research and/or applied work in responsible AI.
  • Recognition as a research thought leader in one or more areas of responsible AI
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution
  • Experience communicating technical research to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working across organizational boundaries
  • Experience working with executive stakeholders on strategic technology initiatives.

We'd love to see:
  • Experience implementing responsible AI practices in large-scale production environments
  • Contributions in AI governance, policy, or regulation, such as developing technical frameworks for regulatory compliance or contributing to standards bodies
  • Contributions to open source responsible AI tools, evaluation frameworks, or datasets
  • A good understanding of financial markets, instruments, products and regulation
  • Exposure to Bloomberg Terminal and/or enterprise data products

Salary Range = 240,000 - 330,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
