Job Summary:
Bloomberg Philanthropies Healthcare Education High School Interns will support daily operations in a healthcare environment while gaining exposure to various departments. This role is observational and nonclinical, focused on professional skill-building, teamwork, and learning how healthcare systems function.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences (typically ages 16-18).
  • Interest in healthcare careers and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work in teams, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer and communication skills.
  • Successful completion of required onboarding (e.g., orientation, safety training, health clearances per facility policy).
  • Parent/guardian consent if under 18.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Follow all hospital policies, including safety, confidentiality, and infection prevention.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks such as organizing materials, de-identified data entry, filing, and preparing supplies.
  • Assists with research projects, data analysis, and/or creating various reports
  • Shadow staff members to learn about clinical and operational workflows.
  • Participate with the team in training, check-ins, and assigned learning activities.
  • Maintain professional behavior, punctuality, and communication always.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to stand and walk for periods of time.
  • Work may occur in clinical, office, or simulation settings.
