Senior Bloomberg Market Data Analyst - Remote EST - Contract Role
Working Title: Senior Bloomberg Market Data Analyst - Market Data Strategy, Usage Rationalization & Cost Optimization
Role Summary
Seeking a senior market data professional with deep, hands-on Bloomberg expertise to assess, rationalize, and optimize Bloomberg usage across a complex global investment organization. This role is not intended for someone who simply consumes Bloomberg data or has general market/reference data familiarity. The right candidate has led Bloomberg-focused efficiency, rationalization, entitlement, usage analysis, and cost optimization initiatives inside a financial services or investment management environment. The initial focus will be Bloomberg, including terminal usage, Bloomberg data licensing, DL Plus usage, data consumption patterns, duplicated requests, stakeholder demand, and opportunities to reduce cost while still supporting investment, data, technology, compliance, and operations needs.
Core Mission
  • Build a clear enterprise view of how Bloomberg is currently being used including terminals, datasets, feeds, products, user groups, and overlapping requests.
  • Identify duplication, underutilization, inefficient licensing, and opportunities to reduce Bloomberg spend without disrupting investment workflows.
  • Design a sustainable operating model for Bloomberg request intake, approval, usage tracking, governance, entitlement review, and cost management.
  • Partner with internal market data, data delivery, investment, technology, finance, legal/compliance, and vendor-management stakeholders to create a practical implementation roadmap.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear recommendations, business cases, and decision-ready options.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Bloomberg usage analysis including terminals, DL Plus usage, data feeds, user populations, business needs, consumption patterns, and overlapping services.
  • Assess current Bloomberg request patterns and design a scalable process to rationalize demand from multiple business and technology stakeholders.
  • Analyze where Bloomberg products are duplicative, underused, misaligned, or potentially replaceable through better use of existing products or shared services.
  • Support cost optimization by identifying terminal/license rationalization opportunities, redundant feeds, unnecessary data subscriptions, and alternative delivery models.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and Bloomberg as needed to understand product capabilities, usage tooling, entitlement structures, and reporting options.
  • Partner with market data/vendor-management stakeholders to support contract renewal preparation, usage evidence, audit readiness, and cost-management discussions.
  • Develop governance policies and operating procedures for Bloomberg request intake, access approval, data usage, entitlement review, cost attribution, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Create dashboards, usage reports, KPIs, and executive summaries that show Bloomberg consumption, cost drivers, optimization opportunities, and progress against savings goals.
  • Partner with tactical market data/data analysts to collect known use cases, datasets, pricing/curve/security data needs, and current stakeholder pain points.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly way to senior stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of market data management, Bloomberg administration, Bloomberg data strategy, vendor data governance, or market data cost optimization experience within financial services, investment management, asset management, wealth management, or capital markets.
  • Deep Bloomberg expertise, including Bloomberg products, terminals, enterprise data delivery, licensing models, user access, data entitlements, usage reporting, and cost drivers.
  • Proven experience leading Bloomberg efficiency, usage rationalization, cost optimization, license review, or market data transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with Bloomberg stakeholders and internal market data/vendor-management teams to understand product capabilities, usage metrics, and commercial implications.
  • Understanding of market data contracts, licensing constraints, entitlement structures, usage restrictions, redistribution risks, and audit readiness.
  • Experience designing market data intake, approval, governance, usage monitoring, and cost-allocation processes.
  • Ability to work across siloed investment, data, technology, compliance, finance, legal, and vendor-management teams.
  • Advanced Excel and strong analytical capability for usage analysis, cost modeling, reconciliation, and executive reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to turn complex usage/cost findings into simple recommendations and business cases.
  • Preferred / Plus Experience
  • Experience with additional market data vendors such as FactSet, Refinitiv/Reuters, MSCI, ICE, S&P, Morningstar, or index/alternative-data providers. These are helpful but secondary to Bloomberg depth.
  • Experience with market data inventory, entitlement, or cost-management tools such as DACS, FITS, TRG Screen, MDSL, or similar.
  • Exposure to cloud-based market data distribution, APIs, data lakes, data feeds, and enterprise data-delivery patterns.
  • Understanding of public markets, private markets, index data, reference data, pricing data, curve data, security master data, and investment-data consumption patterns.
  • Experience creating executive-ready presentations, cost-saving proposals, business cases, and implementation roadmaps.

Estimated Min Rate: $65.00
Estimated Max Rate: $80.00
