What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Blog Writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Blog Writer, you need strong writing, research, and editing skills, often supported by a background in communications, journalism, or English. Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, SEO principles, and basic image editing tools is typically expected. Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to meet deadlines are vital soft skills for producing engaging and timely content. These competencies ensure that blog posts attract and retain readers, effectively communicate messages, and support overall content strategy.

How does a Blog Writer typically collaborate with other team members, such as editors and content strategists?

As a Blog Writer, you'll frequently work alongside editors who review your drafts for clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand voice. Content strategists may provide you with topic briefs, target keywords, and insights on audience engagement, guiding your writing to align with broader marketing goals. Regular communication and feedback sessions are common, ensuring that each blog post supports the organization's overall content strategy and maintains quality standards. Building strong working relationships and being open to constructive feedback are key to thriving in this collaborative environment.

What does a Blog Writer do?

A Blog Writer creates engaging and informative content for blogs, typically on behalf of businesses, organizations, or personal brands. Their main tasks include researching topics, writing articles, editing drafts, and optimizing posts for search engines (SEO). Blog Writers often tailor their writing style to fit the target audience and may collaborate with editors, marketers, or designers to enhance the content. They play a vital role in helping websites attract and retain readers, build authority in a niche, and improve online visibility.

What Is a Blog Writer?

A blog writer is a writer who creates online content for their personal website or contributes content for an online newspaper or existing blog. Bloggers can write about any topic, but some of the most popular include fashion, gardening, tech, health care, news, and real estate. Your duties depend on whether you are writing for yourself or part of a larger organization. If you blog on a personal website, you have to come up with new content and blog titles that help you develop a following. You also use social media or email marketing campaigns to build interest in your work. If you work for a larger organization, you may have more strict deadlines and other obligations. While quality content must come first, many blog writers use search engine optimization (SEO) to increase traffic to their posts.

Technical Writer

Giga AI Inc

San Francisco, CA โ€ข On-site

Job description

This role is on-site in San Francisco in the Dogpatch neighborhood.
About Giga
Giga has recently raised a $61M Series A and is working with Fortune 500 customers to deploy the next generation of customer experience - real-time AI agents that can understand emotion, resolve issues instantly, and scale across the world's largest enterprises.
Industry leaders like DoorDash trust Giga with their most complex support and operations workflows across voice, chat, and email, in high-stakes regulated environments where accuracy and compliance matter. We're at an exciting inflection point.
While we've found real commercial success, our ambitions are larger: to become the go-to AI platform for all enterprise automation, powered by our voice superintelligence. The work affects millions of people every day, and our team has the autonomy to make true impact - with brilliant founders, a clear path forward, and the kind of momentum that defines generational companies.
If being part of that resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you!
  • Voice AI startup Giga raises $61M Series A
  • DoorDash and Giga Partnership

About the Role
Giga ships product fast. What we don't ship fast enough is the writing that makes builders understand why it matters. We're hiring a Founding Technical Writer to own our engineering voice externally - technical blog posts, teardowns, and narratives published on a weekly cadence. Marketing owns distribution. You own craft.
The quality bar: Anthropic's engineering blog (their multi-agent research posts, Claude Code best practices) and Ramp's Builders blog (Forward Deployed Engineering, Abstraction Engineering). If those are publications you read and have opinions about, we should talk.
What You'll Ship
  • 2 flagship technical posts per month (1,500-3,000 words, interview-driven, your byline) - the kind of posts engineers share with their teams
  • 2 shorter pieces per month - tactical teardowns, customer engineering stories, technical POV pieces
  • Source material and editorial for major product launches - working directly with engineering to shape the narrative
  • A technical publishing rhythm the engineering team is proud to share and candidates cite in interviews

Who You Are
You've interviewed technical people and turned what they said into writing people actually read. You understand agents, LLMs, and production systems well enough to ask the second and third question - not just the softball. You can hold your own with senior engineers because you translate across, not down. You write with a point of view, not just a style guide. You ship on cadence without sacrificing craft.
Where You Might Come From
Technical PMM, ex-DevRel, engineers who pivoted to writing, tech journalists who went in-house, serious AI/agents Substack writers. We don't care about your title. We care about your writing.
Perks & Benefits
  • Catered lunch daily + dinner stipend
  • $150/month wellness benefit (gym, fitness classes, mental health)
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid parental leave (12 weeks maternal, 6 weeks paternal)
  • Commuter benefits

Giga is an equal opportunity employer. We're committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status.
How to Apply
Send 3 writing samples and a paragraph on which post from Anthropic's engineering blog or Ramp's Builders blog you'd write differently, and how.
