Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Platform Validation Engineer to join a high-performance hardware engineering team. This role will focus on the validation, debugging, automation, and failure analysis of complex storage and server platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience working across hardware, firmware, and software environments and be comfortable collaborating with engineering, operations, lab, and external manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end validation strategies, requirements, test environments, and methodologies for storage and server platforms spanning hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Develop and execute validation plans covering functional, electrical, thermal, reliability, firmware, feature, performance, and parametric testing.
  • Participate throughout the product development lifecycle, including validation, documentation, DVT, failure analysis, root-cause analysis, and sustaining support.
  • Develop and implement end-to-end debugging solutions at both device and rack levels.
  • Execute rack-level burn-in, soak, and reliability testing using clearly defined pass/fail criteria.
  • Validate full rack-level performance against per-node targets and identify CPU, memory, NIC, SSD, and other system bottlenecks.
  • Validate rack-level mechanical, thermal, and acoustic compliance against customer requirements.
  • Participate in bug triage meetings, communicate findings, and provide technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Software, Platform, Operations, and Lab teams to provide technical guidance on platform hardware fundamentals.
  • Develop documentation related to diagnostics, debugging, and system serviceability.
  • Conduct multi-node interoperability testing within and across rack-scale deployments.
  • Set up and execute system stress and performance tests using tools such as SPECint, iPerf, FIO, and custom I/O and memory tests.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for server- and rack-level validation.
  • Work with data center teams on rack deployment, power, cooling, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Lead product failure investigations, including supplier and internal root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support design and manufacturing improvements, system hardening, and customer escalations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree with 7+ years of professional experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional experience.
  • Strong experience in complex, high-volume hardware design and manufacturing environments involving compute, storage, server, or networking platforms.
  • Strong understanding of hardware design, x86 architecture, and related interfaces.
  • Experience validating x86 hardware at electrical, signal integrity, protocol, and functional levels.
  • Working knowledge of hardware, firmware, operating systems, drivers, and software stack fundamentals.
  • Experience with rack-level infrastructure, cabling, optical transceivers, network fabric integrity, cable management, serviceability, and redundancy.
  • Experience with performance and benchmarking tools and collecting or analyzing system telemetry.
  • Experience with BMC/IPMI, Redfish, and SMART logs.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python and/or Shell/Bash for test automation.
  • Experience developing test frameworks and reporting pipelines.
  • Experience with milestone-based validation processes and Go/No-Go reporting.
  • Ability to automate interactions with lab equipment through serial and console interfaces, including PDUs, BMCs, and network switches.
  • Experience using hardware and software debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and memory dump/trace analysis.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and failure-analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with storage technologies and protocols such as NVMe, NVMe-oF, RDMA, and TCP.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies and protocols such as Ethernet, InfiniBand, RoCE, BGP, and iSCSI.
  • Experience with rack-scale systems and high-performance computing or storage environments.
  • Experience with system-level performance profiling and telemetry analysis.
  • Familiarity with hardware/firmware validation methodologies and product development milestones.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform validation professional with deep experience in server/storage hardware, rack-level validation, system debugging, test automation, performance testing, and failure analysis.
