Job Summary

The Gliomics Research Group (https://www.gliomics-lab.com/) is located at the Center for Neuroscience at UC Davis. Our group is interested in understanding the genetic regulation of microglia states in neurodegenerative diseases. We aim to identify, track, and manipulate microglia states using various in vitro and in vivo stem cell models, genomics, epigenetics, and imaging techniques. We are passionate about advancing our understanding of diseases and making a difference in patients' lives.
Under supervision, the laboratory assistant I will contribute specifically to projects that use stem cell-derived models to understand better the role of microglia states in health and diseases. Specifically, the position will help with immunofluorescence, quantitative qPCR, and basic cell culture maintenance. This is an exciting opportunity to support and develop new projects on neuroimmune interactions in Alzheimer's disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. This position will provide an outstanding foundation for a career in science, medicine, or biotechnology, with multiple possible career paths in academia and industry.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • High School Diploma and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Experience working in a research laboratory.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA Neuroscience or related field
  • Experience with one or more of the following: cell culture, molecular cloning, immunohistochemistry, microscopy.
  • Experience working in a research laboratory.
  • Ability to follow protocol/instructions.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Responsive to email/slack communication
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to work with computers and learn new software
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to work with others.
