What's the role?

TheSales Development Manager, Biotech and Pharmais a dynamic role with the opportunity to drive significant sales growth within Research Microscopy Solutions (RMS) North America and beyond. This position focuses on expanding the sales funnel to support commercial growth in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. As a customer-facing role, it involves building and leveraging networks to enhance ZEISS's brand visibility and create new business opportunities in these markets. Success in this role requires a strategic, results-oriented mindset and a deep understanding of the biotech and pharmaceutical landscape to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities. Prior experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical sector, or selling to these industries, is highly valuable. Collaboration is essential, as the role involves working closely with the biotech and pharma sales team, Business Development Managers, and global teams to achieve shared objectives. Key qualifications include strong business acumen, excellent communication and marketing skills, technical expertise in microscopy solutions, and a clear understanding of target markets.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Sales Funnel Growth: Drive new business growth by identifying and developing sales opportunities within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.

  • Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships through in-person visits and networking to generate leads and open new doors with biopharma customers.

  • Enterprise Solutions, Services & Software Business: Explore and develop opportunities for services business and software portfolio sales, including enterprise solutions projects.

  • Workshops & Events: Organize and lead workshops, webinars, and on-site events including tradeshows to engage customers by delivering presentations that showcase ZEISS solutions to drive sales opportunities.

  • Sales & Marketing Campaigns: Collaborate with the Business Development Manager Team to develop & execute effective campaigns that complement ongoing digital efforts and directly support sales efforts and opportunity generation.

  • Content Creation: Leverage networks to support the Business Development Manager in creating domain-specific and voice-of-customer content.

  • Partnership Development: Establish and nurture partnerships with biopharma organizations to expand ZEISS's market presence.

  • Sector Expertise: Provide biotech and pharma industry insights to support the sales team in KOL meetings to help close key opportunities.

  • Market Insights: Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activities to uncover new sales opportunities.

Do you qualify?

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Biological Science or related fields.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the biotech and pharmaceutical sector.

  • A minimum of 2 years sales experience and/or experience working within the biotech and pharmaceutical market.

  • A willingness to travel domestically (~70%) and globally (~10%).

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate confidently, effectively and persuasively.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of microscopy techniques, their applications, and how they are utilized in biotech and pharmaceutical drug discovery & development environments

Working Conditions and Special Demands:

  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.

  • Capable and willing to engage customers in their workspace/environment, including BSL -2 and BSL-3 facilities.

  • Must have driving record in good standing, a valid driver license, and be able to drive a company provided car/van

  • Must have valid employment authorization to work in the United States

  • Must have the ability to procure a passport for international travel

  • Ability to lift microscope equipment to 75lbs

The annual pay range for this position is $110,000 - $138,000

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
