The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is a Department of War (DoW) organization focused exclusively on accelerating the adoption of commercial technology throughout the military and growing the national security innovation base. As the Department's gateway to leading technology companies across the country, DIU is focused on rapid prototyping, fielding, and scaling of commercial solutions that can save lives, lead to new operational concepts, increase efficiency, and save taxpayer dollars.
DIU has a variety of missions which bring academic and private sector solutions to national security problems. To accomplish this mission, we seek a wide variety of backgrounds including military experience, high technology product development and leadership, operations expertise, and general program management experience.
We are actively recruiting in the following area(s):
Federal Civilian Position - IT/Cybersecurity Specialist: Leads the design, implementation, and management of enterprise IT infrastructure while coordinating comprehensive risk analysis for target applications, systems, and network environments. Manages the continual monitoring, lifecycle, and assessment of both enterprise IT services and Cyber assurance programs. This encompasses systems administration, cloud architecture integration, IT service delivery, and Assess & Authorize (A&A) activities. Remains updated on emerging IT innovations, enterprise architecture trends, and the cybersecurity landscape to optimize system availability, performance, and inform decision-making for the Authorizing Official. Responsible for overseeing network operations, infrastructure scalability, software deployments, and data integrity, while actively analyzing the threat environment to mitigate risks to mission execution. Supports the development of comprehensive IT strategies, systems modernization plans, and cyberspace policies in alignment with organizational missions and initiatives. Examples of positions in this area include IT Program Manager, Systems Administrator, Cloud Architect, Network Engineer, and INFOSEC Specialist.
Positions may be located in Mountain View, CA or in the National Capital Region.
