The Role:

We're looking for a passionate and curious Lab Manager, Bioreactor Process Design to join our team. As a Lab Manager at Just-Evotec, you'll have the freedom to ask the hard questions, think outside the box, and find creative solutions that push us forward. It's a role where your curiosity will fuel both your personal growth and the success of the team.

This person will join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team to support bioreactor process development (perfusion and intensified fed-batch) at the bench and pilot scale for the advancement of low-cost biotherapeutics manufacturing. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and efficient in completing hands-on laboratory tasks and will lead a team responsible for supporting bioreactor cleaning and preparation, lab space organization, equipment cleaning and maintenance, and supply ordering and inventory tasks. The ability to perform basic tasks on a computer is required as well as a willingness to learn new software tools. Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English is required in addition to the ability to communicate effectively in person and over teleconference or web-based meetings. The ideal candidate is curious, creative, engaged, works well independently and collaboratively, and proactively looks for ways to improve processes and efficiency.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a team of multiple Lab Associates and Senior Lab Associates responsible for preparing and running bench-scale bioreactors and bioreactor-related equipment (controllers, pumps, autoclaves, etc.) including building and autoclaving bioreactor parts and assemblies as well as assisting with bench-scale bioreactor operations (daily sampling and analytics, equipment cleaning and maintenance, inoculation activities, run preparation, and troubleshooting).

  • Maintain and troubleshoot instruments (including bioreactor control systems, software, and analytical equipment) while maintaining a clean and organized lab space.

  • Coordinate support function logistics while contributing to scientific functional area project work.

  • Train and mentor junior staff. Support Lab Associates in procedure and protocol execution.

  • Regularly inventory lab supplies and place orders.

  • Collaborate across teams to develop systems for inventory and equipment tracking.

  • Work with vendors and manufacturers on ordering and troubleshooting supplies.

  • Support other groups with solution preparation and lab maintenance activities as time allows.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelors degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience scheduling and completing lab support activities.

  • Experience cleaning and maintaining scientific laboratory equipment.

  • Experience in training others as well as managing and leading teams.

  • Organizational skills including attention to detail.

  • Motivated to complete a variety of lab work tasks, both individually and as a team member.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Drive Suite applications.

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds with assistance.

  • Experience developing systems for management of lab inventory or handling user requests.

  • Experience with 6S/Lean or other methodology for efficiency.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $86,500 to $97,500;Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual's skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, flexible work, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
