Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Occupational Therapist Discipline: Therapy Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 5x8hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: Aug 17, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 3 Description American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an acute care unit at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring 2 years of experience and BLS certification. Details Acute care hospital setting within a Level 1 trauma center Inpatient acute care and rehabilitation unit with 21 beds Treats patients of all ages with orthopedic, neurological, and general medical diagnoses Average caseload of 4-5 patients per day, varying by volume EPIC EMR used for computerized charting Access to specialized equipment including UE Bioness and Dynavision Day shift schedule, primarily Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm Weekend rotation required, approximately 1 weekend per month No on-call requirements Requirements Current Occupational Therapist license required if applicable Minimum 2 years of experience required Current BLS certification required Experience with medically complex and medically unstable patients preferred Ability to manage high-volume, dynamic caseload with frequent rescheduling Strong critical thinking and interdisciplinary communication skills required Additional Information Provide individualized OT evaluations and treatment interventions for acute care patients Conduct FIM assessments and participate in team conferences Recommend appropriate discharge destinations based on patient assessment Collaborate with interdisciplinary team on discharge planning and care coordination May supervise certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, and students Department-specific orientation provided over 1-2 days for computer documentation, with additional training over several days Business casual dress code required, no jeans, modest attire; scrub tops permitted in Ceil Blue, Khaki, Gray, or Chocolate Brown Local candidates accepted within 80-mile radius at adjusted rate Candidates with prior employment at this health system must disclose it and have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission Badge in/out required at facility American Traveler Job ID P-739050.
