Job description

Role and Purpose:
To maintain a comprehensive program of health services for the campus, while providing individual health services to campus students. Position located on the Nixon High School Campus. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain state and local student health records
  • Promote campus health education programs
  • Develop and implement preventative health practices for students
Qualifications:
  1. Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  2. Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  3. Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  4. CPR Certified.

Experience:
*Two years of nursing experience, preferably in a community or educational health setting.
Special Comments: This position is eligible for a stipend of up to $4,000 each school year (must meet qualifications).
The "Min & Max Starting Salary" is based on the market value of a similar position and the number of years of working experience* as an RN, e.g., Base Salary/202 Contract Days/Est. hrs./day= est.$/hr.
*Note: per School Board approval (March 29, 2006), "School nurses will earn one year of school credit for every two years of RN experience and three years of LVN experience".

  • A notice to comply with the requirement for a Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) review via the "DPS FACT" database (included during the enrollment process) per Texas Government Code Sec. 411.097.
  • An "Affidavit of Applicant Offered Employment" (included in the application process) must be completed and notarized before a candidate is offered a professional position at N-S CISD. A notary public is available in the Human Resources office when candidates are recommended for employment. This pre-employment requirement complies with TEC 21.009.
