About Us:
The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is an independent, non-profit biomedical research organization located in Torrance, California. In dozens of laboratories throughout the campus, researchers are working to unravel the mysteries of heart and kidney disease, cardiac complications in newborns, chronic lung disease, skin cancer, sickle cell disease, disorders of the autoimmune system, and much more. Many of these projects are collaborative in nature, involving experts from different areas of specialization. Our discoveries have prevented blindness in newborns, enabled premature infants with fragile lungs to breathe and allowed children with rare, often fatal diseases to grow up healthy and strong.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or related field
  • Prior experience in clinical research, biomedical research, healthcare, pharmacy practice, patient care, or a related field is preferred; clinical trial coordination experience is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of clinical research principles, human subject protections, and clinical trial operations.
  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA regulations, IRB processes, and applicable FDA regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple studies, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients, investigators, sponsors, and research staff.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and confidential research records and study documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic data management systems.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and report clinical and research data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary clinical and research teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and ability to adapt to changing research priorities.
  • Familiarity with biospecimen handling, translational research workflows, and laboratory procedures is desirable.
  • Knowledge of GraphPad Prism, REDCap, electronic data capture systems, or other clinical research software is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, integrity, and patient confidentiality in all aspects of research activities.

Responsibilities:
  • The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting clinical and translational research studies conducted within the Department of Molecular Medicine.
  • Responsibilities include participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, informed consent, study visit coordination, regulatory compliance, study documentation, data management, biospecimen collection and processing, and communication with investigators, sponsors, and research collaborators.
  • The incumbent will assist with study startup, ongoing study conduct, monitoring visits, and study closeout activities while ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, FDA regulations, and institutional policies.
  • The position will also support biomarker-driven and translational research initiatives through coordination of clinical specimens, research data, and laboratory collaborations.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as research programs and institutional priorities evolve.
