Job description

Quanta Dialysis Technologies is seeking a hands-on Biomedical Technician to support the maintenance, repair, testing, and reliability of the Quanta Dialysis System.
Based in our US headquarters in Beverly, MA, this role will support both internal equipment and machines deployed in the field. The Biomedical Technician will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, testing, and documentation, while partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Service.
This role will also support customer-site installations, preventive maintenance, repairs, and service activities, with approximately 25-50% travel depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, rework, and testing on clinical and development dialysis systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, fluidic, and software-controlled equipment issues.
  • Identify and document equipment failures and support root cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Engineering on recurring machine, component, and test failures.
  • Support machine installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs at customer sites.
  • Maintain accurate service records, machine history, configuration details, and quality documentation.
  • Use the company ERP system to document work performed, consume parts, update equipment records, and support inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to coordinate machine shipments, equipment movements, and required service parts.
  • Perform work in accordance with approved procedures, engineering specifications, QMS requirements, and safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machine reliability, service processes, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
  • Assist with non-conformances, CAPAs, complaints, and other quality-related investigations as needed.

Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25-50%, including overnight travel as required.
  • Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent technical training or hands-on experience may also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical/electronic systems, with an interest in developing troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation, work instructions, drawings, or schematics with appropriate training and guidance.
  • Comfortable learning to work with mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, fluidic, and software-controlled systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established documentation, quality, and safety procedures.
  • Interest in developing hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing complex electromechanical equipment.
  • Preferred: Internship, co-op, academic, military, or professional experience working with medical devices, laboratory equipment, electronics, mechanical systems, or other technical equipment.
  • Preferred: Exposure to preventive maintenance, equipment repair, troubleshooting, installation, or testing.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with regulated environments, Quality Management Systems, Good Documentation Practices, ISO 13485, or FDA requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience using an ERP, inventory management, work order, or similar business system.
  • Preferred: Experience participating in technical problem-solving, fault-finding, or root cause investigations.
  • Preferred: Dialysis or other healthcare equipment experience.
