Field Service Engineer – Contractor (Ontario, Canada)

Position Summary
Sciton is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer Contractor based in Ontario, Canada to provide on-site technical support for medical laser systems, including Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections, plumbing-related service issues, and initial system evaluations to determine whether additional service is required.
This is a contract-based independent contractor role with work assigned as service needs arise. While work volume is not guaranteed, Sciton currently has ongoing service needs in the region and anticipates regular opportunities. This role does not include employee benefits, and contractors maintain flexibility while supporting Sciton’s service needs on an as-needed basis.
In this role, you will:
  • Perform on-site Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections, troubleshooting, and service of medical laser systems
  • Address and resolve basic plumbing-related issues associated with laser installations
  • Evaluate laser system functionality to determine if additional service or repair is required
  • Accurately assess issues and communicate findings to Sciton Field Service Engineers
  • Escalate complex or advanced technical issues for follow-up by Sciton personnel
  • Complete required service documentation and reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional communication with customers and Sciton team members
Essential Requirements:
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the region
  • Prior experience servicing medical devices (laser experience strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with basic plumbing or fluid-related systems in medical equipment
  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to assess equipment condition and identify when advanced service is required
  • Comfortable working independently in the field
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
Compensation
Daily Rate: $1,000 – $1,070 CAD
Meal Per Diem: $60 CAD per day (for eligible business travel days)
Mileage Reimbursement: $0.90 CAD per mile (or CRA-equivalent rate in Canada, if applicable)
