Our products thrive in the toughest environments, and so do we-because we're committed to helping our customers succeed.

What's the role?
Teledyne ETM is seeking a mid-level, hands-on Field Service Engineer to support the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of complex high-power electronic systems. This role is focused on executing field service activities, performing structured diagnostics, and supporting customers under established procedures, with escalation to senior technicians and engineering as required. The position supports high power amplifiers, linear accelerators, high-voltage subsystems, and thermal control units deployed at customer sites worldwide and requires significant travel.

What makes you a great fit?
You're technically savvy, self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. You have prior customer-facing field service experience (OEM, military or equivalent technical background) and are excited to learn and grow into new challenges. Documentation discipline and safety are important to you. You are prepared to travel internationally and domestically about 80% of the time. We value independent thinkers who bring clarity, commitment, and collaboration to everything they do.

What You'll Do

    • High-voltage power supplies and interlock systems
    • Thermal control units, including cooling hardware, temperature sensors, and control components
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and thermal issues at the system and subassembly level, following established service procedures
  • Verify system performance using schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and test procedures
  • Identify common cooling and thermal issues such as insufficient cooling, temperature alarms, sensor faults, and control issues
  • Perform work safely around high-voltage and high-power equipment in accordance with company and customer safety requirements
  • Complete accurate and timely field service reports
  • When not travelling, you will be performing testing and repair of RMA parts at ETM's Newark, CA office.

What You'll Need

  • Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent military or industry experience
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in field service, maintenance, or bench level troubleshooting of electronic systems, including: LINACs (medical or industrial); HV power supplies, modulators, klystrons, SSPAs, TWTAs; RF systems and interlocks
  • Experience working with high-power electronics, RF systems, high-voltage equipment, or industrial/scientific systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service documentation
    • Must possess a valid U.S. passport
    • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to manage the physical demands of the job, which include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, twisting, kneeling, working at elevated heights and working in noisy environments with hearing protection.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including internationally.
  • Preferred qualifications include:
    • Exposure to thermal management or cooling systems (chillers, temperature control units, sensors)
    • Prior customer facing field service experience
    • Experience working in safety critical or regulated environments
    • Familiarity with structured troubleshooting, failure reporting, and escalation processes

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Career growth opportunities in a global organization
  • A welcoming, collaborative culture focused on problem-solving
  • Competitive pay, full health benefits, 401(k) with matching, bonus program, and more
