Job description

Description
The Biomedical Engineering (BME) program at Baylor University seeks candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2027. Baylor is investing in the rapid growth of the BME program, which emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, medicine, and the health sciences. The successful candidate will pursue excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship grounded in faith. They will play a foundational role in shaping the curriculum, research culture, and future direction of the program while strengthening Baylor's distinctive Christian mission.
We seek candidates with expertise in biomaterials or biomechanics who employ experimental, computational, or combined approaches to advance fundamental understanding or translational biomedical technologies. We especially encourage candidates whose work complements and expands existing strengths in biosensors, bioelectronics, medical devices, and artificial intelligence.
A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a closely related field is required. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, the potential to build a strong externally funded research program, the ability to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and effective communication and organizational skills. Candidates who are outside of the United States and do not have other nonimmigrant visa status will not be sponsored for an H-1B petition. Review of applications will begin on October 31, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled. Nothing received after December 31, 2026, can be considered.
The BME program is currently administered within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering and Computer Science. The program offers BS and MS degrees, with a Ph.D. program in development. Program faculty and students are located in the Rogers Engineering and Computer Science Building and the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC), a 330,000 square-foot interdisciplinary research facility.
