Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Survey Technician I will execute technically complex land surveying assignments. The Survey Technician will also review survey maps and documents to assess technical accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal property laws and regulations.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Perform research of county, city, and other sources of record information on easements, deeds and other pertinent information, and utilize it to prepare working sketches for field crews.
  • Utilize Trimble Business Center software to process field crew data and produce files for import into AutoCAD.
  • Use field crew data files (points), field sketches, photos and reference maps to create survey base drawings.
  • Utilize AutoCAD software to produce detailed subdivision maps, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and other various survey related maps or exhibits.
  • Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for right of way, easements, acquisition parcels, etc.
  • Perform QA/QC procedures on work prepared by themselves and others.
  • Generate construction point calcs for utilities, grading, buildings, etc…
  • Generate alignments (.rxl) and surface (.dtm) files to be used in the field for staking.
  • Generate building gridline calcs using the structural and architectural plans.
  • Review and process differential level loops.
  • Ability to set up a project in TBC or Civil 3D based on the parameters given within the plan set.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of mathematics used in field survey analysis.
  • Thorough understanding and ability to apply methods and standards of technical report writing and computer-assisted surveying applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of maps, title reports, and legal descriptions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software used to draft reports and letters.
  • In depth knowledge of how to read civil plan sets, such as how to read stationing, interpret slope
  • percentage, push grade, etc.
  • How to use a programmable calculator in order to determine grade from provided information in
  • plan sets.
  • Know the difference between grid and ground coordinates/measurements.

Topographic OM, Inc. in office Standard business hours is Monday-Friday from 6am-7pm.

The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.
