About the Role
The Director, Commercial Data & Insights, Digital Technology and AI will lead the transformation, delivery, and operationalization of modern data, analytics, digital platforms, and AI capabilities supporting BioMarin's global commercial organization. This role will be accountable for drivingenterprisescalechange across data architecture, advanced analytics, and AI, in close partnership with Business Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A), Commercial stakeholders, and Digital Technology teams.
The role will play a critical leadership position in modernizing BioMarin's commercial data ecosystem, including the adoption and expansion ofDatabricksbasedplatforms, while ensuring insights are embedded intodaytodaybusiness workflows to drive measurable commercial impact.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Data & Insights Leadership
  • Ownendtoenddelivery of commercial data and insights across patient identification, targeting, segmentation, field effectiveness, forecasting, and performance analytics
  • Drive integration and strategic use of internal and external healthcare data (claims, Rx, EHR, specialty pharmacy,thirdpartydata) to supportdatadrivendecisionmaking
  • Partner closely with BI&A to ensure alignment between foundational data capabilities, analytics, and reporting across the organization
Data Engineering & Delivery Oversight
  • Oversee delivery of scalable data pipelines, transformations, and data products using modern engineering patterns
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across analytics and reporting layers in partnership with BI&A
Digital Technology & Data Platform Transformation
  • Lead the modernization and transformation of BioMarin's commercial data architecture, including adoption and scaling ofDatabricksandcloudbaseddata platforms
  • Drive transformation from legacy reporting and data processes to scalable, governed, andAIreadydata products
  • Partner with Enterprise Digital Technology, Architecture, and BI&A teams to deliver secure, scalable, andfuturereadysolutions
Advanced Analytics, AI & Innovation
  • Enable advanced analytics and AI/ML use cases to improve patient finding, targeting, forecasting, and decision support
  • Work with data science, BI&A, and commercial teams to operationalize models and embed insights directly into commercial workflows (CRM, dashboards, analytics tools)
Business Partnership & Change Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders across Commercial, Market Access, Patient Services, BI&A, and Digital Technology
  • Lead change management and adoption of new data and AI capabilities across commercial teams
  • Translate business priorities into clear delivery roadmaps,tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes
Data Governance, Privacy & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy, security, and regulatory standards (HIPAA, tokenization, data governance)
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Cybersecurity to manage risk while enabling innovation
People Leadership
  • Lead and develop ahighperformingteam across data engineering, analytics, and insights
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transformation mindset, speed, and business impact
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degreerequired; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in life sciences / biopharma commercial data, analytics, or digital technology
  • Proven experience leadingenterprise data and analytics transformations, including modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks)
  • Strong understanding of commercial healthcare data and analytics use cases
  • Experience partnering closely with BI&A organizations and data science teams
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead change in a matrixed environment
